Afghanistan Recalls Envoy, Diplomats from Pakistan over Abduction Incident

Afghanistan has recalled its ambassador to Islamabad and other senior diplomats over “security threats” after the alleged abduction and torture of the daughter of Afghanistan’s Ambassador Najib Alikhil in the Pakistani capital. Meanwhile, Pakistan has termed this decision of Afghanistan as ‘unfortunate and regrettable’.

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid, in an interview to a private TV channel news channel, said that the ambassador’s daughter was not kidnapped. Rashid alleged that the whole episode was an “international racket” to “defame” Pakistan.

Meanwhile, in a statement, the foreign ministry said, “Following the abduction of the daughter of Afghan ambassador in Pakistan. The leadership of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has recalled the Afghan envoy and other senior diplomats from Islamabad back to Kabul until all the security threats removed.”
